The Best Beaches in Florida- Florida West Coast

Tampa Bay''s Gulf Beaches

Tampa Bay’s Gulf Beaches

If you were to ask most beach lovers where the best beaches in Florida are, they would undoubtedly say the Florida West Coast.  There is a difference in the beaches of the West and East Coasts of Florida, and what you have a preference for will probably be where you will migrate to if you are looking for beaches.  Throughout the year the water on the Gulf Coast will be warmer with less surf.  The sand generally is whiter in color with a finer texture as compared to the beaches on the Atlantic Coast.  Then if you are more into sunsets to sunrises, on the West Coast you can get some magnificent sunsets over the Gulf.

Florida West Coast Beaches Are Some of the Best in the World

Florida beaches overall are among the finest in the world.  Clearwater Beach, the beaches around Naples, Captiva Island and Sanibel Beach are some of the best not only in Florida but in the world.  But the beach that was rated number one in the world in 2011 was Siesta Beach in Sarasota.  It is just three-quarters of a mile long, but its sand, surf, and facilities, which include lifeguards, make it extremely popular.  It is no longer a secret, though, as it is becoming quite congested in season.

The West Florida Coast has Great Beaches, but Also a Lot More

Perhaps a trip to this area including all that the Florida west coast has to offer with a cruise.  At Tampa Cruise Guide you can search and book a cruise from one of America’s most popular departure ports for western Caribbean cruises.  Cruises out of Tampa are from four to fourteen days and stops often include the world-class snorkeling reefs around the Cayman Islands or the fun of Cozumel.  In our article Cruise in Europe 2012 we point out why now is such a great time price-wise to take a cruise, and it just doesn’t pertain to Europe.  Cruising, fortunately for us, is a bargain everywhere.

The Florida West Coast Best Beaches Are Actually Just the Beginning

Busch Gardens in Tampa Florida

The Busch Gardens theme park just north of Tampa is really well worth a day, even if you can no longer get free beer since Anheuser-Busch sold the park.  But it’s still excellent. Today it is a 19th century African-themed park which is as much an interactive zoo as a park for rides, although over time they have added more coaster rides for the thrill-seekers.  Today it has four roller coasters that have place in Amusement Today’s top 50 rides.  But its general theme is Africa, as the names Morocco, Stanleyville, Congo, Jungala, Timbuktu, Nairobi, Crown Colony Plaza and Egypt for their themed areas will attest.

Plus there is Major League Baseball and NFL Football in the area, plus spring training baseball for sports fans.  And of course out of Tampa there are several cruises leaving for destinations around the Gulf of Mexico.  Another vibrant area of Tampa that is a lot of fun is Ybor City.  This historic area was once a place  immigrants of many nationalities flocked to,  and 100 years ago was a major producer of cigars.  Those days of course are long gone, and after a long period of decline in the 1980s began a revitalization. It is now a popular and trendy place with bars, restaurants, nightclubs and other nightlife attractions.

But mostly along the west coast of Florida as in all of the state, it is about sun, an easy-going lifestyle with an always-on-vacation feel.  The area was built for entertainment and relaxation, so come to the area in that frame of mind.  On this website we will describe in greater detail many of the lesser-publicized things that are available to the vacationer, as well as advice and bargains on many of the activities.  On our website http://whattoseeinflorida.com/ as well as our other Florida pages, we plan to make the time you spend visiting our site both informative and worth your while cost-wise.
